Nick Stevens: Krakens Released Since 1974.

My latest task for the AMC Movie Blog was to try and name five actors who could…maybe…possibly…take on the role of “Dirty” Harry Callahan, should some suit or honcho (what a great word, BTW - honcho…where’s that from?) decide to reboot the DH franchise. Well, I think I found five actors who might be able to pull it off in one way, shape or form. It might seem like career suicide for said actor, given that you’d be walking in the footsteps of Clint Eastwood. Which is like following a kid or an animal on-stage or replacing a Hall of Fame quarterback; destined for failure are you. But would you be surprised if you read one day that there was going to be a new Dirty Harry, either in the form of a remake or some sort of “Dirty Harry: Year One” kinda thing? Harry Callahan at the police academy, then on his early assignments. He’s pounding the pavement in San Francisco as a rook. Something happens. He and his bad attitude cross the line. WHAM! We learn why he’s called “Dirty” Harry. I’m not advocating it, just sayin’…I know Hollywood, and so do you. I’m just doing my job to try and improve upon what might be the inevitable.

Also, while you’re in the neighborhood…if you’re in the mood to read some musings from the mind of the action movie obsessed I’ve covered such ideas as the 10 best action movie debuts, and the 20 greatest tag lines in action movie history. I recommend that you PREPARE FOR GLORY!
